Essentials: A Love Letter to Turntables

I’m not talking about record players. This is about being in love with an organizing product.

We’ve installed countless turntables in kitchens and laundry rooms. They’re sturdy, rotate smoothly, have a non-skid surface, and a nice flat white edge to add a label.

Turntables in use

Grouping sauces, spreads, spices, soups, vinegars, oils, snacks, or booze in these rotating clusters prevents the dreaded black hole in the pantry or cabinet. Nothing gets buried so you don’t end up buying stuff you already have. They are especially helpful in extra high or low places where you can’t see past the first couple inches of the space. Plus, spinning is joyful!

One caveat. They are not a space saver. If density is your goal this is not for you. But if you want a system to prevent frustrating clutter they are invaluable.

Here are a few helpful products available on Amazon (As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases). I hope this saves you from aimlessly wandering the internet or the aisles of a mega store.

The 9” Capco Turntable

Just make sure to measure your cabinet depth first to ensure enough clearance for smooth spinning. They come in a variety of sizes The 9” is a great fit for most upper cabinets that are 12” deep (and yes, I truly wish they made an 11” one).

The 18” Capco Turntable

The 18” is great for a deep cabinet above the fridge to store liquor or below the sink for easy access to cleaning products.

Double Decker (2-Tier) Capco Turntable

I will note that none of these are very pretty. They are meant to be inside of something, like a cabinet. I would never put any plastic turntable on a countertop in plain view. Based on our client’s kitchen decor, we’ll invest in stainless steel or wood.
